Is not where I am now though, as it was 40 plus k to Mortara it was scheduled as train from Robbio.
The day was supposed to be 20ks, well I was up to 26.5 and the sign for Robbio read 5.5k.
I must have looked shattered as a woman stopped and offered me a lift…I was in that car before you could say snap. There was still another 4ks to the rail station.
I think I must have gone wrong about 12ks out but my tromping thru rice fields and over raceways plus thru a poplar forest plus past an old farmhouse all fitted the directions..parallel universe maybe also a longer one.
Still misty with killer mozzies but do not seem to have been bitten yet which is a miracle. A few piddles has given them a good target.
Chatted to a girl this am who lives on one of the rice farms, said she talks to anyone who stops and last year a couple from Wellington stopped. I asked if the man in front of me stopped , no….
Later that day there was a register of sorts at a picnic area, two Italian men in front of me today and only about twenty in total do far this year nearly all Italian.
Another twenty plus hop thru the rice tomorrow, hope I do not get lost again.
Wearing my down jacket most of the time and tired of wet feet…sure the boots did not leak last year.
This walk is rural as opposed to rural remote…very few people around though…towns not very attractive…
